Redeem Cloud Credit#

Redeeming your Google Cloud for Education credit is a little bit complicated. This gide will help you understand how to do it.

Attention

You need a personal Google account for this class.

Access to Your Cabrillo Student Email#

Your cloud credit will be mailed to your <studentid>@student.cabrillo.edu email address. Per Google’s policy it cannot be (easily) mailed anywhere else. You will need access to the account. Cabrillo students who are currently enrolled in at least one class have access to Cabrillo Google accounts, including Gmail and Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

Follow these steps to set-up your Cabrillo College Email account:

Attention

Have your WebAdvisor/Canvas/MyCabrillo password ready.

  1. Go to the Google accounts login page. If you are already logged into a personal Google account, you will need to click your profile picture in the upper-right corner and choose “Add another account”

  2. Log in to Google using your 7-digit student ID followed by @student.cabrillo.edu as your email. (for example 9090909@student.cabrillo.edu)

  3. Click Next and then enter the same password as WebAdvisor, Canvas and MyCabrillo.

    Error

You might need to reset your password on WebAdvisor. Passwords that are more than two years old won’t work.

  4. Accept the terms of service, and you are done creating your Cabrillo Google account! You can now click the 9-dot waffle icon in the upper-right corner to access different apps, like Gmail.

Getting Your Credit#

You will receive information about how to redeem your credit in email. The credit can only be redeemed into your student account. Unfortunately, student accounts aren’t allowed to create Google Cloud resources. After you receive your credit you have to then share the credit with an existing Google account.

Sharing Your Credit#

Take these steps to share your credit:

  1. Go to the Google Cloud console Billing panel.

  2. Select “Billing Account for Education”. That takes you to the “Overview” panel.

  3. Select “Account management” on the left.

  4. If necessary click “SHOW INFO PANEL” as shown:

    Show info panel

  5. In the Info Panel click “ADD PRINCIPAL”

  6. Enter the Gmail address of your personal account and set the role to “Billing Account Administrator” as shown.

    Add administrator

  7. Click “SAVE”

  8. Go to the billing panel in your personal account and verify that you can see the “Billing Account for Education” listed.

Turn In#

Turn in a screenshot of your Google Account for Education linked to your personal account.
